SPRING is here! Yes- the sun in shining. The birds are chirping. The spring buds are making its way out of the ground. It HAS to be spring. I at least think that we are given a chance to enjoy a looonger spring season this year and we are getting an early gift : ) THANK YOU, sunshine. So, to celebrate the NEW season, I have asked Jemma to give us some insight as to what to expect this season when it comes to makeup and beauty.

1.) What is trending now in 2012?

Many celebrities and makeup companies have been incorporating a cat-eye look through the use of eyeshadow and eyeliner.  Bold liquid eyeliner has been paired with very warm neutral tones of eyeshadow to create a modern day pinup look.  Skin has been kept very natural and glowing in order for bold lips to take front and center stage.  Plums and reds are making a comeback.  To sum it up, we will be seeing more looks that incorporate neutral eyes with bold eyeliner along with bold lips.

2.) Products to get this year!

Since spring and summer are on their way, I recommend a tinted moisturizer with SPF.  You will be able to have the coverage you want while protecting your skin from harmful UV rays.  I also recommend a good cleanser and moisturizer with SPF as well.  It is important to wash your face before bed each night because it gives your skin the chance to breathe. Plus it gets rid of dirt, sweat, and other enviromental products that may clog your pores.

3.) If you only have FIVE minutes to look ‘put together’, what would you use?

There have been many times I have had five mintues, sometimes even less, to throw together a look.  When this happens, the first thing I grab is tinted moisturizer so I am able to get the moisture my skin needs along with some coverage.  The next thing I grab is my eyebrow pencil to lightly fill in my brows and also use as eyeliner.  To give my face some shape and color, I always use bronzer on the sides of my face and also as eyeshadow in my crease to give my eyes a little bit of dimension and contour.  Lastly, I will run a quick coat of mascara through my lashes and then finish it off with lip gloss.  I tend to grab a lipgloss that is more bold in color because it gives my face more of a finished and styled look.

4.) Frequently asked questions.

Since the trend right now is bold winged out eyeliner, I have a lot of customers asking me how they can achieve this look.  For those who do not feel comfortable using a gel eyeliner, which requires using a brush to apply it, I always recommend a liquid eyeliner that comes in a pen.  It is easy to use and also gives you are very sharp wing.  Another important thing I try to explain to customers is that less is more when it comes to foundation.  I see many women wearing heavier coverage than is necessary for their skin type.  You should use a small amount of foundation all over your skin and use a concealer in problem areas.  By doing so your foundation will last longer and keep from settling into fine lines.  More than anything else it is important to take care of your skin.  The best thing you can do is wash your face and moisturize every day because if your skin isn’t in the best shape, your foundation will not apply as evenly and look as smooth.  I also recommend exfoliating your skin at least twice a week to get rid of dead skin that can settle into fine lines.
